In 2012, we were approached by Nanaimo Regional Hospital to create a set of panels for the new Emergency Ward waiting area.
Utilizing 1/2” thick clear glass, we created a design which relates to Nanaimo’s relationship between the ocean and the land. The kelp forest has two coho salmon cast into the face of the glass. The white sided dolphins and the sea plumose sea anemones were sand blasted onto the surface of the glass. Above the underwater imagery is a casting of the skyline of the area as you enter Departure Bay by water. We sandblasted a bald eagle into the top right hand face of the glass. The glass was tempered and installed to the posts using spider clamps.
Thanks to the project team for their faith in our abilities and support in making sure we were able to complete and install this feature in time for the grand opening.
